Reps Summon Education Minister Over TVET Snub

The House of Representatives Committee on Polytechnic and Higher Technical Education has expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, to honour its invitation to clarify issues surrounding the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative.

Speaking at an investigative hearing in Abuja, the Chairman of the committee, Fuad Laguda, said the minister also failed to acknowledge previous correspondences from the committee regarding the TVET programme and other activities of the ministry. He described the development as unacceptable.
The committee subsequently directed the Federal Ministry of Education to submit all requested documents on the TVET initiative, including details of the programme from its inception, implementation, and other relevant records requested by the House.
The lawmakers also rescheduled their meeting with the Minister of Education to September 17, 2026, expressing optimism that he would appear with the requested documents and provide explanations on the issues raised by the committee.
