The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev. Dr. Isreal Adelani Akanji, FAR, has called for decisive measures to tackle the persistent insecurity and senseless killings across Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists ahead of the NBC’s 113th Annual Session scheduled to take place in Abuja, Rev.
Akanji expressed concern over the continued challenges of banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, noting that these issues have significantly hindered the nation’s economic progress over the years.

He emphasized that no society can truly develop in an environment where insecurity prevails and where the lives and property of citizens are not adequately protected.
Highlighting the role of religious leaders and organizations, the NBC President urged the Federal Government to adopt more proactive strategies in addressing insecurity rather than reacting after incidents occur. He also encouraged religious bodies to remain steadfast in prayers for the nation to overcome its security challenges.
On the forthcoming 113th Annual Session, Rev. Dr. Akanji assured that adequate preparations are underway to ensure a successful gathering.
He disclosed that the Convention, themed “Entering into Newness through the Fruit and Gifts of the Holy Spirit,” will hold from April 18 to April 23 in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, the event will take place at the Baptist International Convention Centre in Kubwa, Abuja, and will feature biblical teachings, a review of activities over the past year, and prayers for Nigeria and its leaders, among other activities.
While wishing all messengers a safe journey to the Convention, the NBC President expressed optimism that the session would deepen the spiritual growth of participants.
