Senator Kalu Mourns Victims of Ahmedabad Plane Crash, Sends Condolences to Affected Countries

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic crash of a Boeing Dreamliner aircraft in Ahmedabad, India, which occurred just minutes after take-off.
According to aviation officials, the aircraft took off at approximately 1:47 p.m., slightly behind schedule, and crashed just nine minutes after being granted clearance for departure. Details about casualties are still emerging.
Reacting to the incident, Senator Kalu, a former governor and current member of Nigeria’s National Assembly, described the crash as “heartbreaking and traumatic.”
In separate letters addressed to the governments of four countries involved, Senator Kalu conveyed his condolences through their diplomatic envoys.
“I have been desperately shocked by the terrible events in Ahmedabad, India today,” he wrote. “Our special prayers and deepest possible sympathy are with the families and friends of all those affected by this appallingly tragic incident. It’s one of the most heartbreaking and traumatic news to hear.”
He urged the envoys to extend his sympathies to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
Senator Kalu also extended particular condolences to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the Indian people.
“I pray for as many lives to be saved as possible and wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” he added.
Further details about the cause of the crash are expected as investigations continue.
