Over 15 newly inducted lawyers from Rivers East Senatorial District have commended Senator (Chief) Allwell Onyesoh for his ₦23.85 million Call to Bar support grant, describing him as “a mirror of society” and a “selfless representative” committed to youth empowerment.
The delegation, representing 159 beneficiaries of the 2025 Young Lawyers Class, visited the lawmaker at his National Assembly office in Abuja on Wednesday to personally express their gratitude. The development was announced in a statement signed by Peter Oriri, Special Adviser on Publicity and Communications to Senator Onyesoh.

Each of the young lawyers had earlier received ₦150,000 to support expenses related to their Call to Bar ceremonies, including the purchase of legal regalia and other essentials. Initially earmarked for 108 graduates, the programme was later expanded to include 51 additional beneficiaries following the Senator’s further intervention.
“For me, it is money well spent,” Senator Onyesoh said while receiving the delegation. “I didn’t do this for thanks or recognition,I did it because I believe it’s the right thing to do. I know what timely support can mean in a young person’s life.”
He urged the new lawyers to uphold integrity, remain dedicated to the legal profession, and commit themselves to a life of service.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Barr. Godswill Oyegbu expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries. He noted that the grant covered not only ceremonial expenses but also transportation and other essential needs. Oyegbu also highlighted that many of the beneficiaries had previously received support under the Senator’s ₦6.7 million Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) training grant.
Another delegate, Barr. Wele Promise Tochukwu from Ikwerre LGA, described Senator Onyesoh as a trailblazer whose interventions in education, infrastructure, and job creation remain unprecedented in the Senatorial District.
“Senator Onyesoh is not only a selfless representative but also a mirror of the society we want to see, responsive, progressive, and people-oriented,” Tochukwu said.
Barr. Azunda Blessing from Obio/Akpor LGA recounted how previous attempts to raise funds for her Call to Bar failed, noting that the Senator’s intervention was a turning point for her and others.
Similarly, Barr. Abbey Kalio Boma from Okrika LGA praised the Senator’s unrelenting commitment to human capital development and prayed for divine guidance and strength in his leadership journey.
The delegation presented a plaque to Senator Onyesoh and offered prayers for his continued protection and success.
In his closing remarks, Senator Onyesoh reiterated his commitment to public service, youth development, and the upliftment of the Rivers East Senatorial District. He urged the new lawyers to lead with courage and serve with distinction.
