Senator Sumaila Kawu, representing Kano South Senatorial District, has expressed deep appreciation to members of the media for their continued support and coverage of parliamentary activities. The senator, speaking during an engagement with press representatives, emphasized the critical role journalists play in bridging the gap between lawmakers and the Nigerian public.

“Alhamdulillah, on behalf of my constituents in Kano South, particularly the Kolol District, I am highly delighted and happy with your encouragement and dedication to reporting our work,” Kawu said.

Highlighting the core duties of the legislature, Senator Kawu reaffirmed the importance of lawmaking, representation, and oversight as constitutionally mandated responsibilities. He noted that the path to effective legislative service often comes with challenges but stressed that positive engagement and feedback from the public and media serve as motivation.

“Our constitutional responsibilities are very clear. But before reaching this position, we overcome many barriers. Your acknowledgment of our efforts and your in-depth analysis of what we do mean a lot to us,” he added.

Senator Kawu, who has served in the National Assembly since 2003, acknowledged the role of the press in promoting transparency and accountability. He urged journalists to remain committed to truth and accuracy in their reportage.

He further expressed optimism about the future of Nigeria’s democracy, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration between the legislature and the media to achieve national development goals.

“With your support, Inshallah, we will have a better National Assembly and a better Nigeria,” Senator Kawu concluded.

The senator also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the media team and praised their efforts in enhancing public trust in the National Assembly.
