There Is Hope Beyond Prison Walls – RCCG Encourages Kuje Inmates
Wealthy Nigerians have been urged to support inmates serving jail terms and those awaiting trial in various correctional centres across the country.
The Regional Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Joseph Adeyokunnu, made the call during a visit by the RCCG Northern Accountants to the Kuje Medium Security Correctional Centre in Abuja.
Pastor Adeyokunnu noted that the government alone cannot bear the burden of meeting the needs of the numerous inmates across the nation’s correctional facilities.
He explained that the Church’s visit was aimed at preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and reassuring the inmates that there is hope and a better life awaiting them after their release.
The cleric urged the inmates to live responsibly and take advantage of government initiatives designed to help them reintegrate into society and contribute meaningfully to their communities after regaining freedom.
According to him, the government has created opportunities for inmates to pursue formal education up to tertiary level, alongside several skill acquisition programmes available within the correctional centres.
He further appealed to the families of inmates not to lose faith, assuring them that God can transform the lives of their loved ones despite their current circumstances.
Pastor Adeyokunnu commended the federal government’s ongoing economic policies and expressed optimism that the initiatives would yield positive outcomes. He, however, stressed the need for relevant agencies to ensure that such programmes reach citizens at the grassroots.
Also speaking, the National Coordinator of the RCCG Accountants, Pastor Temitope Oyeleye, reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to fulfilling its social responsibility by supporting the underprivileged.
Pastor Oyeleye expressed confidence that continuous visits and spiritual guidance would inspire inmates to live meaningful and responsible lives after their release.
During the visit, the team donated several relief items including toiletries, slippers, rice, clothes, beverages, and other essentials.
