Tinubu Submits 65 Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate for Confirmation
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has transmitted a fresh list of 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
The President’s request was announced during Thursday’s plenary session in Abuja by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
According to the correspondence, the list comprises 34 Career Ambassadors and High Commissioners as well as 31 Non-Career Ambassadors and High Commissioners, making a total of 65 nominees.
Among the notable Career Ambassador nominees are Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahmed from Kwara State and Segun Ige from Edo State. Prominent names on the Non-Career Ambassadorial list include Senator Folasade Grace Bent from Adamawa State, Senator Solomon Ita Enang from Akwa Ibom State, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo State, among others.
Meanwhile, three ambassadorial nominees earlier sent to the Senate last week—Kayode Are (Ogun State), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Ayodele Oke (Oyo State)—have already been screened by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs. The newly submitted list of 65 nominees has also been referred to the same committee, with a one-week deadline set for their screening.
