Tragedy in Nanyuki: Woman Found Dead After Night Out With Ex-Husband
A somber mood has engulfed Nanyuki following the tragic death of 20-year-old Risper Faith, whose body was discovered in a local lodging shortly after meeting with her ex-husband. The heartbreaking incident has thrown her family, friends, and the entire community into mourning, as police intensify efforts to track down the main suspect linked to her death.
According to her grieving father, Risper left home around noon after calling him at work to request 200 shillings for transport to town. However, when he returned home at 6 p.m., she had not come back — an unusual occurrence since his daughter was always punctual. Concern mounted when several calls to her phone went unanswered, prompting fears that something terrible might have happened.
The next morning, her father visited KFC at FIA Mall — a spot Risper often frequented — hoping to find her there, but she was nowhere in sight. Growing increasingly anxious, he decided to report her disappearance to the police. On his way to the station, he stopped briefly at a nearby hospital and mortuary, unaware that his worst fears were about to be realized.
After describing his daughter’s distinctive brown-and-white braided hairstyle to mortuary attendants, his fears were confirmed — the unclaimed body lying in the morgue was indeed that of his daughter, Risper.
Police investigations later revealed that Risper had checked into 1950 Lodging in Nanyuki town with her ex-husband, identified as Elvis Ndegwa, aged 21. The two had reportedly planned to spend the night together. However, when the lodging manager noticed they had not registered or made any payment and had been unusually quiet for over two hours, he decided to check on them. To his horror, he found Risper’s lifeless body inside the room.
Authorities disclosed that the lodging had no CCTV cameras, complicating efforts to establish exactly what transpired. The suspect, Elvis, reportedly fled the scene after the incident and is currently being pursued by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Further reports indicate that Risper had previously accused Elvis of physical assault — a case she later withdrew in February this year. Her death has reignited public outrage over the rising cases of femicide in Kenya, with family members, friends, and residents calling for justice and demanding the swift arrest and prosecution of the suspect responsible for cutting short her young life.
