Two Suspected Goat Thieves arrested by police

Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of goat theft in the Bida Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement by SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson of the command, they were arrested on Saturday, May 11, 202

The suspects, identified as Aliyu Zaki, aged 36, and Umar Mohammed, aged 20, both residents of Masaga and Kusodogbo areas of Bida respectively, were intercepted by police operatives attached to A Div Bida in collaboration with community members.

The statement reveals that the suspects were sighted driving a Toyota Corolla vehicle with registration number LRG 757 AA at Area-4 Bida, raising suspicion among the authorities. When questioned, one of the suspects attempted to flee by speeding off in the vehicle, while the other attempted to escape on foot.

However, both were pursued and apprehended by the police team with the assistance of community members.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their intention of stealing goats in the area.

It was revealed that they had allegedly stolen two goats before being intercepted by the authorities.

At the time of this report the suspects are undergoing investigation at A Div Bida, and they are expected to be charged to court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
