“Two Years Ago, Gossip Drove Us Apart and I Felt Lonely” – Lizzy Gold Reflects on Fallout With Destiny Etiko in Emotional Birthday Message

Nollywood actress, Lizzy Gold, has penned a heartfelt note to her friend and colleague, Destiny Etiko, in celebration of her birthday.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Lizzy recounted how rumours and gossip mongers caused a rift between them two years ago. She admitted that the separation left her feeling lonely, as she isn’t someone who easily makes friends.

According to Lizzy, she often wondered how Destiny managed to mingle effortlessly with people, until she realized that it was simply her nature. She noted that although some people are still trying to spread gossip about them, she has grown deaf to such negativity.

She praised Destiny for having a beautiful soul, describing her as one of the few people who truly understand her. Affirming her love for the actress, Lizzy prayed for God’s blessings upon Destiny and her household, while expressing hope that nothing would ever come between them again.

In her words:
“Two years ago, we separated as friends because of too many ‘them say’ in Nollywood. I became lonely because I don’t make friends easily like you do. So I channelled all the energy into my craft but missed you. Sometimes I would watch how you mingle so easily and wonder how you do it, but I realised it’s your nature. Thank God you realised you were deceived and came back to me.

Some people are still trying to resume ‘them say,’ but trust me, when you start with them say again, we will discuss and laugh over you. Everyone has grown; nobody has the energy to listen to gossip anymore.

Destiny, you have a beautiful soul and are one of the few people who understand me. I love you for who you are. I love your imperfections. I pray today that God will open His heavens and release more blessings for you and your household. Please do not let any weapon in the form of humans separate us again. You already know I do not give rooms for gossip. I love you, Baby. Happy birthday to my friend, my hardworking colleague, my love.”

It would be recalled that in June 2024, Destiny had hinted at a fallout with Lizzy after unfollowing her on Instagram. The move sparked reactions online, with some claiming Destiny often clashed with her colleagues, while others suggested Lizzy might have offended her.

Lizzy, however, dispelled the rumours by promoting Destiny’s movie on her page, which Destiny later acknowledged in the comments before re-following her.

Since then, both actresses have repeatedly celebrated each other on their birthdays, reaffirming their friendship despite online speculations.
