Suspected armed bandits have reportedly killed three farmers believed to be indigenes of Koro while on their way to Atukpo community in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
An eyewitness told City Post that the tragic incident occurred on Monday at about 8 a.m.
when the victims were heading to the community on an errand. The deceased were identified as Tailor Gayu, popularly known as Reverend Father, Zacharia Wudu, and James Delle Iwala — all married men with children.
A relative of one of the victims said in a telephone interview that the men were ambushed by the suspected gunmen while on their way to deliver a message from their father in Atukpo, a Koro settlement.
Another relative, Mr. Nathaniel Ajeh, who narrated the incident, described the attack as “unfortunate, sad, and barbaric,” calling on the government to take proactive measures to address the growing insecurity in rural communities across the state and prevent further loss of lives.
“The deceased left home early in the morning to deliver the message before meeting their untimely death,” he lamented.
Efforts to get the police reaction were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
