TCN Challenges Kaduna Electric Over Jos Power Supply Claim, Says 330kV Lines Fully Operational

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has strongly rejected claims by Kaduna Electric that transmission constraints are responsible for poor power supply to Jos and surrounding areas.

TCN said all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are currently operational and transmitting bulk electricity, dismissing the distribution company’s claim as false and misleading.

In a statement on Thursday, TCN said the only recent incident involving a major transmission line supplying Jos occurred on August 23, 2026.

It explained that the circuit breaker on the Jos-Lafia 330kV Line 2 was opened at 3:30 a.m. that day for voltage control as part of routine grid management.

According to TCN, the line was restored and returned to service at 11:59 a.m. on August 24.

The company stressed that there has been no subsequent outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos that could be attributed to TCN.

“TCN categorically states that the claim is false and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts,” the company said.

The clarification followed a statement issued by Kaduna Electric on August 26, in which the distribution company cited transmission constraints as affecting electricity supply to Jos and its environs.

TCN urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to confirm transmission-related information with the company before making public statements.

It said such verification was necessary to prevent the spread of information that could mislead electricity consumers and create unnecessary anxiety.

The transmission company also appealed to electricity customers in Jos and surrounding communities to disregard what it described as misleading information.

TCN reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and efficient transmission of bulk electricity to distribution companies across Nigeria.

It said it would continue to work with Kaduna Electric and other distribution companies to ensure stable and reliable electricity delivery.
