President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on being awarded the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award, recognizing his dedication to peacebuilding and democracy.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, President Tinubu commended Jonathan’s consistent advocacy for peace, harmony, and communal unity, describing it as a patriotic endeavor that has earned him global recognition.
The President noted that the award is a testament to Jonathan’s bold efforts in promoting peace and democracy across Africa and beyond. He recalled Jonathan’s historic acceptance of the 2015 presidential election results and his peaceful transfer of power to an opposition party, a move that strengthened Nigeria’s democratic credentials.
President Tinubu celebrated this milestone achievement with Jonathan and thanked the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for recognizing individuals making significant contributions to global peace and development.
