For award-winning Nigerian singer, Niniola Apata, musical success has not erased the deepest wound of her childhood — the brutal murder of her father, Brigadier-General Simeon Apata.

In an emotional interview with Jay On-Air TV, the Afro-house star recounted that she was inside the house on the day her father was killed, a haunting memory that continues to live with her.

Niniola revealed that she was her father’s favourite child, which made the loss even more devastating. Her words painted the heartbreaking reality of a daughter forced to carry the weight of trauma from an early age.

Despite the passage of time, she admitted that the pain and vivid images of that tragic day remain fresh in her mind. The incident, which struck when she was very young, left scars that years have failed to heal.

For Niniola, every achievement in music is still shadowed by the painful memory of the father she loved deeply and lost too soon.
