“I Can’t Eat, They Stripped My Child’s Dignity Before the World, Justice Must Be Served” — Father of Viral Ibom Air Passenger Cries Ou
Godwin Emmanson, father of Comfort Emmanson, the young woman at the center of the viral Ibom Air controversy, has demanded compensation after what he described as the public humiliation of his daughter during a flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025.
The incident reportedly started when Comfort allegedly declined to switch off her phone before takeoff, a routine aviation safety requirement.
Upon landing in Lagos, she was forcefully escorted off the aircraft by airport authorities following a heated exchange with the cabin crew. In the process, her breast was inadvertently exposed—a moment captured on video and widely circulated online, sparking outrage and condemnation.
In a viral video released on Sunday, Godwin expressed his grief and frustration:
“My name is Godwin Emmanson. I don’t know why this happened. Is it because I don’t have money? I don’t know who will pay my bills now. They disgraced us and tarnished our image. I can’t even eat. They exposed my child’s body, and she didn’t steal—this was just a mere argument. How can you treat someone’s daughter like this before the whole world? What has government done about it? Is it because I’m as broke as a church rat? I am not happy. Compensation must be paid.”
Following public outcry, Comfort was later released from police custody, and the lifetime flight ban imposed on her by the Airline Operators of Nigeria was lifted.
