NCDC Chair Akighir Pledges Intervention in Health, Education, Security, and Infrastructure — Backs Tinubu’s Agenda

The Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Barr. Cosmos Akighir, has assured that the commission will give priority to interventions in healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and security.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service held in his honour at NKST Church, Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, Barr.

Akighir highlighted the ongoing construction of the River Buruku Bridge as a deliberate initiative of the Federal Government to expand economic activities in the area and across Benue State.

He emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to driving economic growth, not only in Benue but throughout the North Central region, and called on Nigerians to support the President’s leadership.

According to him, the NCDC under his watch will focus on key sectors of the economy to empower citizens and alleviate hardship. He revealed plans to modernize the Buruku river bank, transforming it into a hub for travelers and commercial activities to improve the livelihoods of residents.

The chairman further disclosed that the commission will partner with the Ministry of Water Resources to design a comprehensive program aimed at attracting tourism, boosting revenue, and opening up Buruku and the entire region to more business opportunities.

Akighir also promised to facilitate the construction of linking roads and ensure rural electrification projects within the LGA to ease the lives of the people.

He expressed gratitude to the church for their prayers and appreciated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, for granting him the opportunity to serve at the commission. He urged citizens to continue supporting President Tinubu in his efforts to improve the lives of Nigerians, as well as the SGF to enable him to deliver effectively, stressing that such support would strengthen the President’s bid for a second term.

Earlier, Akighir attended another thanksgiving service at NKST Daudu in Guma LGA, organized by Alhaji Stephen Tsav, the North Central representative on the Governing Board of the North-East Development Commission. There, with the support of his team, he donated N22.2 million for the development of the church.
