The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami, has called on Christians to cultivate the spirit of cheerful giving as a pathway to attracting divine blessings.

He made the call during his sermon titled “A Life of Worship: Celebrating the Goodness of the Lord” at the Church’s 2025 Harvest Thanksgiving Service in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Taking his Bible reading from Psalm 103:1–5, the Baptist cleric expressed concern over the reluctance of some Christians to share God’s blessings with others. He emphasized that harvest thanksgiving is a key to unlocking closed doors and attracting God’s favor in all areas of life.

“Harvest thanksgiving holds great biblical significance. It reminds us of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and provision, and encourages gratitude while reinforcing our trust in the sovereignty of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he said.

Reverend Oyelami further urged Christians to continually show gratitude for God’s mercy, love, and the blessings bestowed upon their lives.

According to him, “Christians should always live with purpose, knowing that their lives are dedicated to serving and honoring God alone.”

While praying for God’s blessings, favor, and mercy upon members of the church, Reverend Oyelami cautioned them against allowing the current economic hardship to push them into ungodly pursuits of wealth.

Some members of the church, including Dr. Mrs. Naomi Adelabu, Chief Peter Mobolaji, and Prof. Samuel Olanrewaju, expressed their gratitude to God for another successful harvest thanksgiving service.

They wished the congregation a joyous celebration and prayed for God’s continued protection and grace to witness many more harvest thanksgiving services in the years to come.

The highpoints of the event included prayers of thanksgiving for all church members and the nation at large.
