NCPC Boss Welcomes Pioneer Executive Secretary on Condolence Visit
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, on Tuesday received a condolence visit from the Commission’s pioneer Executive Secretary, Prof. John Kennedy Opara, who led a delegation to commiserate with him over the passing of his father, late Chief Moses Adegbite.
The late Chief Adegbite died on 14th November 2025 at the age of 86 after a brief illness.
During the visit, Bishop Adegbite expressed gratitude to Prof. Opara for the show of love and sympathy, describing him as “a living saint whose legacy will outlive him.” He noted that Prof. Opara’s distinguished career had earned him great admiration and stressed the importance of celebrating people while they are still alive. The NCPC helmsman also voiced optimism that peace would ultimately prevail in Nigeria to enable the country to progress.
Prof. Opara, in his condolence message, extended his heartfelt sympathy to Bishop Adegbite and the entire Adegbite family. “It is with a deep sense of loss but also gratitude to God that I come to condole you on the death of Baba and our late NCPC Board member, Archbishop Numel Baba,” he said. He emphasized the long-standing, cordial relationship he shares with Bishop Adegbite, which, he noted, made the visit imperative.
Quoting Romans 14:7-8 — “If we die, we die for the Lord; if we live, we live for the Lord” — Prof. Opara added, “God gave and He has taken; blessed be His holy name.” He described late Chief Moses Adegbite as a man who lived well and was a blessing to Nigeria, urging the family to remain strong as “your father has done his part.” He also prayed for God’s guidance upon Bishop Adegbite, wishing him a successful tenure with accomplishments greater than his own time as Executive Secretary.
Prof. Opara, who is also the Chairman of CSS Global Integrated Farms in Gora, Nasarawa State, was accompanied by members of his management team, including the General Manager, Dr. Ifeoma Unachukwu.
