Mutsfwang Defection: Plateau People Will Speak at the Right Time — PDP North Central Forum Chairman
By David Odama
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) North Central Forum, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, has said the people of Plateau State will make their position known at the appropriate time following the defection of Governor Caleb Mutsfwang from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Rt. Hon. Adaji made the remark while responding to questions from journalists shortly after the Forum’s North Central meeting. He acknowledged the party’s disappointment over the loss of the Plateau State governor to the APC but stressed that the PDP remains resolute, committed, and strengthened in its determination to reclaim the North Central zone and the country in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, “We are not happy with the governor of Plateau. We never expected that. But the world itself is dynamic. He has chosen his own path, and when the time comes, the people of Plateau and the PDP in Plateau will also speak.”
He added that although the North Central is currently feeling the impact of recent political developments, unity and collective effort would ensure victory for the PDP in 2027. “If we do the right things and work together, the PDP will completely capture the North Central in 2027,” he said.
Rt. Hon. Adaji explained that the meeting was convened to receive briefings from the various states and to chart a new course for the party in the zone. “Politics and party affairs are about briefings. We have come together to get updates from our states and to forge a new beginning. Some of our chairmen are new, some have spent barely a year, so it is also an opportunity for us to know ourselves better and address challenges where necessary,” he stated.
Speaking on the forthcoming Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Forum Chairman disclosed that the PDP is fully prepared and confident of winning all six Area Councils.
“The FCT is a stronghold of the PDP. The FCT chairman is here, and all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure victory. Our duty is to give him moral and financial support where necessary,” he said.
He further expressed confidence in the party’s readiness, noting that PDP candidates are on the ballot and that residents of the FCT are prepared to vote for the party. “We are fully prepared for the election. Forget all the hullabaloo; PDP will win, and we will win convincingly,” Adaji declared.
