The Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, Reverend Tom Tampatore, has called on residents of the Federal Capital Territory to actively participate in the upcoming February FCT Area Council Election.
Speaking at the conclusion of the church’s Annual Twenty-One-Day Fasting and Prayer, celebrated as the “White Robe Sunday” Service, Pastor Tampatore emphasized that the election presents an important opportunity for residents to exercise their democratic right and elect leaders of their choice.

He further urged residents who took part in the recent voter registration exercise to visit INEC-designated locations and collect their Permanent Voter Cards.

The cleric also appealed to political party leaders to educate their supporters on the importance of maintaining peace and refraining from violence during the electioneering process. He stressed that those in positions of authority should lead with the fear of God, prioritizing the welfare of the citizens above all else.
“Leaders must be willing to make sacrifices and focus on the well-being of the people to ensure peace prevails in the country,” Reverend Tampatore said.
The pastor assured that the church used the twenty-one days of fasting and prayer to seek divine intervention for the nation’s challenges and expressed hope that 2026 would be a better year.
Speaking on the event, Deacon Bassey Effiong noted that the annual program allows members to present their personal requests and petitions before God. All church members were dressed in white, symbolizing purity and unity in prayer.
