FCT: Crescent Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Abuja, Celebrates 15th Anniversary As Chairman Roles Out Achievements For Members
The Crescent Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Airport Road, Lugbe Abuja, has celebrated its 15th years Anniversary and 14th Annual General Meeting, AGM, in the Federal Capital Territory.
The 15th Anniversary with the theme “Fifteen Years of Cooperation, Honouring Commitment, Inspiring Growth” was used to celebrate the existence and achievements of the Cooperative Society in the last fifteen years.
Speaking during the occasion in Lugbe Abuja, the Chairman, Crescent Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Engr. Abdulwahid Kolawole described the celebration as a milestone for members of the Cooperative Society stating that within the period many members have been able to own their houses, buy plots of land, cars, drill boreholes, among others notable achievements through their savings with the cooperative society in the last fifteen years.
“This is what they would have gone to banks to go and get money for and would have cost them something in the range of 30 percent and above which we do less than 15 percent in most cases for our members which basically make it a welfare package for them and it’s spread over many months to pay back” He stressed
Engr. Abdulwahid Kolawole who described cooperative society as a means of achieving one’s aims on life explained that economic financial inclusion which is a huge challenge for many Nigerians most especially civil servants and small scale business owners has been made easy through cooperative society by bringing their little resources together for everybody to utilize towards the overall benefits of members.
The Chairman therefore advised civil servants to join cooperative society towards preparing for their retirement.
“Any civil servants who is not a member of cooperative society and want to survive in this our today’s society will find it extremely difficult and that is why i will advice any civil servant or anybody for that matter that want to survive the present economy on Nigeria and anywhere in the world and doesn’t want to be labeled as a thief or a corrupt person to join cooperative society and cooperative society like ours and Halal Cooperstive which is non interest base and doesn’t charge interest on loans make life even more easier because whatever it is that you took as loan, the only thing you’re paying back is service charge which is just little and that’s why we have so many people coming to the cooperative society” Engr Abdulwahid Kolawole added
In a goodwill message, one of Pioneer Members of Crescent Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Lugbe Abuja, Mallam Bamalli Nuhu Abbas commended the present leadership of the Cooperative Society for upholding honesty, transparency and a accountability in the discharge of their duties.
He therefore enjoined them to sustain the tempo towards realizing the aims and objectives of the Cooperative Society.
Earlier, the Treasurer of Crescent Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Lugbe Abuja, Hajiya Fatima Isa Ibrahim who congratulated members of the Cooperative Society on the 15th years Anniversary promised that the Executives would not betray the confidence reposed in them by members of the Society.
While soliciting for continuous cooperation and support of members, Hajiya Fatima Isa Ibrahim said the Executives would continue to give priority to programmes that would enhance the financial welfare and empowerment of members of the Cooperative Society.
