TCN Strengthens Community Partnership as Afaka Youths Pledge Support for Power Infrastructure Protection

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with host communities following a courtesy visit by members of the United Progressive Youth of Afaka (UPYA) to its Kaduna Regional Office.

The visit, held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, focused on deepening cooperation between TCN and the Afaka community to protect critical electricity transmission infrastructure and promote sustainable community development.

Speaking during the meeting, the General Manager (Transmission), Kaduna Region, Engr. Nasir Mansur S. Fada, said the company remains committed to maintaining open communication, mutual respect and continuous engagement with communities hosting its facilities.

According to him, TCN’s stakeholder engagement strategy is designed to build trust, address community concerns through dialogue and encourage residents to take ownership of transmission installations as national assets that require collective protection.

Fada stressed that safeguarding power infrastructure is essential to ensuring a reliable electricity transmission network and reducing incidents of vandalism that disrupt power supply.

On behalf of the delegation, the Secretary-General of the United Progressive Youth of Afaka, Abdulhafiz Yahya, praised TCN’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and its consistent engagement with the community.

He pledged the group’s continued support in protecting transmission facilities, describing the partnership as mutually beneficial to both the Afaka community and Nigeria’s electricity sector.

The meeting highlighted TCN’s ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships with host communities through sustained stakeholder engagement and sensitisation programmes aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and protecting critical national infrastructure.

The company said it believes strong community partnerships remain key to curbing vandalism, enhancing infrastructure security and ensuring a stable and efficient electricity transmission system across the country.
