ACT-2027: Archbishop Daniel Calls for Northern Christian Unity, Backs Tinubu’s Second Term

Archbishop John Praise Daniel has called on Christians across northern Nigeria to unite beyond ethnic, denominational and political differences, urging them to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Daniel made the appeal during the commissioning of the Abuja secretariat of Arewa Christians for Tinubu 2027 (ACT-2027), where he stressed that unity and grassroots mobilisation were critical to achieving the group’s political objectives.

The cleric urged Northern Christians to prioritise their shared interests and work collectively to strengthen their participation in the country’s political process.

“When we are united, there is no impossibility that will stand against us,” he said, citing biblical teachings on unity and collective action.

He called on members of ACT-2027 to take their mobilisation efforts to villages, local government areas and wards across northern Nigeria, stressing the need to engage communities at the grassroots.

Daniel warned that tribal affiliations, denominational differences and political disagreements should not prevent Christians from pursuing common objectives.

“Despite our differences, we must be united. We must stand as one. That is what will make the vision come to pass,” he said.

Explaining his support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, the bishop recalled his interaction with the president in 2022, when concerns over the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket generated controversy.

He said he had supported giving Tinubu an opportunity to lead, partly because he believed the president could address insecurity and improve political representation in government appointments.

Daniel maintained that the appointment of Christians to key government positions had reinforced his confidence in the administration.

He cited Senator George Akume’s appointment as Secretary to the Government of the Federation and General Christopher Musa’s service in senior defence positions as examples of Christian representation in the government.

The bishop urged Northern Christians to remain united in their political engagement, arguing that party differences should not overshadow issues affecting their communities.

He also expressed hope that Tinubu’s re-election would provide an opportunity for further discussions and political negotiations concerning the interests of Northern Christians.

The commissioning of the Abuja secretariat forms part of ACT-2027’s preparations for the 2027 general election.

The organisation’s Convener and National Coordinator, Ambassador Ayuba Jacob Ngbako, has announced a target of five million votes for Tinubu, with plans to mobilise supporters across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.

ACT-2027, which describes itself as the political wing of the Arewa Christians Development Association, is also planning to unveil a book titled Meet President Tinubu and His 52 Managers of the Economy in December as part of its advocacy efforts.
