alt bank has strengthened its financial inclusion drive with the launch of six new AltBoxes in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The facilities, unveiled on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, are part of the bank’s efforts to expand access to convenient banking services and bring financial solutions closer to underserved communities.
The initiative is expected to improve access to essential financial services for residents and businesses in the area, particularly those who face challenges accessing conventional banking facilities.
Speaking at the launch, the Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important development for the community.
He noted the importance of expanding access to financial services at the grassroots, particularly in communities where residents and small businesses require convenient and accessible banking options.
Mohammed Yunusa, who also spoke at the event, highlighted the importance of taking banking services closer to the people, noting that the AltBox initiative would contribute to improving financial access within the community.
The bank’s expansion strategy includes plans to ensure coverage across all seven wards of the local government area, further strengthening its presence and accessibility at the grassroots.
alt bank began operations in January 2014 as a banking initiative within Sterling Bank before obtaining its standalone banking licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria in July 2023.
The latest expansion reflects the bank’s continued commitment to leveraging technology and alternative banking channels to deepen financial inclusion and make banking services more accessible to Nigerians.
