Breaking: Tanker Explosion Claims Several Lives in Kaduna
A tragic tanker explosion on Monday morning claimed the lives of several people in Kaduna, the state capital.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. near Rochas Foundation School, along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass, leaving an as-yet-undetermined number of casualties.
According to an eyewitness, Abubakar, the disaster was triggered by a collision involving two fuel-laden tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars. The crash sparked five loud explosions, resulting in a massive fire and thick clouds of smoke over the highway.
“All the occupants of the cars died instantly, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns,” Abubakar said.
Emergency services and security operatives have since been deployed to the site. The area has been cordoned off, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes as rescue and recovery operations continue.
While efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Command for an official comment proved unsuccessful, a police personnel who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that officers at the scene were from the Zaria Police Area Command.
