The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami, has urged Christians to be good stewards of influence wherever they find themselves towards ensuring the expansion of God’s kingdom

Reverend Deji Oyelami made the call in his sermon during the church’s service in Gwagwalada, Abuja, to mark the first Sunday in the month of October.

In the sermon titled “Stewards of Influence, Managing What Belongs to God,” Reverend Deji Oyelami said every Christian, most especially fathers and mothers, has influence on their families, hence the need for the gospel of God’s kingdom to commence from the family and extend to the larger society.

Taking his text from Psalm 24 verse 1, the Baptist cleric stressed the need for every Christian to give priority to the expansion of God’s kingdom by being good vessels in their places of work, offices and communities.

According to him, everyone will give an account of his or her stewardship before God because no one is without a gift that can be used to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ and win souls for Christ.

While pointing out that everything on earth and in heaven belongs to God, he emphasised the need for Christians to channel their talents, riches and knowledge to the service of God and humanity.

“Influence is not all about money but could be talents, position, connection, contact, knowledge, experience and everything that can be used positively towards the expansion of God’s kingdom.

Therefore, everyone should endeavour to use any influence available to him or her to win souls for Christ through the propagation of the gospel in character, deeds and obedience to the commandments of God,” Rev. Oyelami stated.

He explained that Christians should use the opportunities they have in their businesses, offices and places of work to ensure that Jesus Christ reigns supreme.

Reverend Deji Oyelami reminded Christians that no one lives forever, hence the need for them to make positive impacts and leave lasting legacies behind in Christendom.

“Nobody serve God diligently and use his or her influence positively that will ever regret his or her actions and I challenge all of you to go out there and use your influence positively and use God’s properties given to you properly because posterity will judge everyone,” he added.
