Thanksgiving Fuels Faith, Hope and National Renewal – Cleric

The Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, Reverend Tom Tampatore, has urged Christians to cultivate a lifestyle of thanksgiving and unwavering faith in God despite Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.

Speaking during the church’s Mid-Year Thanksgiving Service, Reverend Tampatore said the gathering provided an opportunity for members to appreciate God’s faithfulness and reflect on His goodness throughout the first half of 2026.
He encouraged Christians to pause, count their blessings, and acknowledge God’s unfailing faithfulness in preserving their lives, expressing confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges.
According to him, although many people have faced economic hardship and difficult circumstances, God has continued to sustain His people through His mercy and grace.
Reverend Tampatore also noted that the church has continued to experience God’s abundant blessings, with testimonies of healing, divine provision, family growth, promotions, and other life-transforming experiences.
He urged Nigerians to remain grateful in every situation, stressing that thanksgiving strengthens faith and inspires hope for greater testimonies.
In their separate remarks, the President of the Men Missionary Union, Mr. Augustine Beguwa, and the President of the Women Missionary Union, Mrs. Abiola Ojo, reminded parents of their indispensable role in nation-building.
They said every responsible society is built on strong family values, with parents playing critical roles in shaping the moral, spiritual, emotional, and social development of their children.
Mrs. Ojo emphasized that mothers are the first teachers of their children and should intentionally nurture them with godly values, integrity, and discipline, noting that such efforts would produce responsible leaders and contribute to national development.
Also speaking, Mrs. Adenike Tampatore encouraged Christians to make thanksgiving a daily lifestyle, describing the gift of life as one of God’s greatest blessings.
Drawing from her experience as a healthcare professional, she observed that many people battle life-threatening illnesses and financial difficulties daily, making every moment of good health and life itself worthy of gratitude.
She urged parents, especially mothers, to teach their children to trust God in every circumstance and remain steadfast in faith, expressing confidence that God would continue to grant His people victory over every challenge.
On his part, the Chairman of the Diaconate, Deacon Bassey Ofion, described the thanksgiving service as an opportunity to appreciate God for His faithfulness over the past six months while trusting Him for greater blessings in the months ahead.
He encouraged Nigerians to remain optimistic, expressing confidence that the country’s current challenges would not last forever and that better days lie ahead.
The thanksgiving service featured special songs of praise and prayers for God’s blessings and protection throughout the remaining six months of the year.
