Cross River Gets New Head of Service as Gov. Otu Pledges Improved Service Delivery

Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has approved the appointment of Barrister Orok Bassey Okon as the new Head of Service.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, the appointment takes effect from September 19, 2025.

“His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, has graciously approved the appointment of Mr. Orok Bassey Okon as the new Head of the State Civil Service,” the statement read.

The appointment follows the retirement of Dr. Innocent Ebri Event, whose career in the state service was described as a beacon of dedication and excellence.

Governor Otu urged the new Head of Service to lead with vision, integrity, and reform-driven zeal, promoting efficiency, professionalism, and accountability within the civil service.

The statement further noted that the appointment reflects the administration’s firm commitment to entrench competent leadership and strengthen governance structures for optimal service delivery to the people of Cross River State.
