EFCC To Collaborate With NFSS On Intelligence Sharing And Tracking Of Financial Flow Behind Insecurity
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Forest Security Service, NFSS, on intelligence sharing and tracking of financial flow behind kidnapping, banditry, terrorism financing and other forms of insecurity within the forested areas.
The Chairman of EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede stated this while receiving the Commander General of NFSS, Dr. Joshua Osatimehin and his management team in Abuja.
Mr Ola Olukoyede who expressed concern over terrorism and banditry financing in Nigeria identified NFSS as a critical organization needed by EFCC to checkmate the problem in the country.
While commending the Commander General of NFSS and his management team for their untiring efforts over the years in complementing the efforts of formal security agencies in the fight against insecurity within the country’s forested region, the EFCC Chairman said the Commission is ready to provide necessary training to officers and men of NFSS towards putting an end to terrorism and banditry financing in the country.
He therefore advised the leadership of NFSS not to relent in rendering their patriotic service to Nigeria in the fight against insecurity adding that the time has come for formal recognition of NFSS towards strengthening the nation’s security apparatus.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commander General of NFSS, Dr. Joshua Osatimehin said he was in the office of the Chairman of EFCC to seek possible partnership on ways of combating insecurity through tracking of terrorism and banditry financing in the country.
Dr. Joshua Osatimehin therefore expressed the readiness of NFSS to support EFCC in its determination to put an end to the unpatriotic activities of those sponsoring banditry and terrorism in Nigeria.
The Commander General said officers and men of NFSS have over the years been complimenting the efforts of the Police, Military, NSCDC, Customs, Immigration,NDLEA and other formal security agencies in protecting lives and property of Nigerians’ most especially at the grassroots.
While thanking the Chairman of EFCC for the warm reception, the Commander General of NFSS stressed the need for all Nigerians to always provide necessary intelligence information that would assist EFCC in realizing its mandate on economic and financial crimes in the country.
Dr. Joshua Osatimehin used the opportunity to once again appealed to President Bola Tinubu to sign the NFSS Bill before him into law towards actualizing his renewed hope agenda for Nigerians in the area of security.
