Eid-ul-Maulud: CAN Urges Leaders to Uphold Justice, Relieve Citizens’ Burden
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on political leaders to use the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud to embrace justice, ease the burden on citizens, and implement policies that foster unity and uphold the dignity of every Nigerian.
In a statement, the CAN President, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, stressed that integrity and fairness must guide leadership if the country is to achieve peace and sustainable development.
He noted that Eid-ul-Maulud provides Nigerians with an opportunity to reflect on values of humility, compassion, justice, and devotion to God as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
“We are reminded that Nigeria stands at a critical crossroad. The challenges of governance, economic hardship, and the yearning for credible leadership demand a renewed commitment to principles that promote fairness, accountability, and compassion,” Okoh said.
Extending warm wishes to Muslims across the country, he added:
“On behalf of the Christian Association of Nigeria, I extend greetings for a peaceful and joyous celebration. May this Eid-ul-Maulud inspire stronger interfaith unity, renew our collective hope for Nigeria, and encourage us all to work together for a just and prosperous nation.”
