By Iyojo Ameh Abuja
The Federal Government has approved the promotion of ninety-five (95) senior officers across four paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior. These include the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The promoted officers span the ranks of Controllers and Commandants to Deputy Controllers and Deputy Commandants.
The Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Retired Major General Abdulmalik Jibril, announced the approval in Abuja on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
He revealed that the Board also approved the formation of a committee tasked with developing a harmonised Scheme of Service for the four agencies, aimed at improving operational efficiency and inter-agency collaboration.
Additionally, the Board deliberated on 224 disciplinary cases involving personnel from the four services. The outcomes included dismissals, compulsory retirements, rejections of appeal against earlier dismissals, exonerations, issuance of warning letters, and loss of seniority for some officers.
Major General Jibril further disclosed that the Board reviewed its ongoing recruitment plans into the services and the Board Secretariat. He announced that online applications would begin on Monday, July 14, 2025, and cautioned applicants to beware of fraudsters. He assured that the recruitment process would be transparent and in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
