FG Declares Friday, September 5, 2025, Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid
The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday in commemoration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. He extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslim faithful to reflect on the virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad, emphasizing that these values are essential for building a united, prosperous, and progressive nation.
He further called on all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs, to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting government efforts to foster national harmony and sustainable development.
The Minister also advised citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of policies designed to promote the collective well-being of Nigerians.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
