The Federal Government has urged state governments to fully utilise available digital education resources designed to improve teaching, strengthen foundational literacy, and address teacher shortages.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made the call during a Roundtable on Digital Resources Available to Achieving Learning Outcomes in Abuja.

He said the effective implementation of the digital platforms would help close learning gaps, improve pupils’ academic performance, expand access to educational content in underserved communities, and promote greater equity in the delivery of basic education across the country.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba, stressed the importance of technology in transforming Nigeria’s education sector, describing it as a vital tool for building an inclusive, resilient, and future-ready learning system.

Dr. Garba said the Commission has made significant investments in digital education through the establishment of digital learning centres in primary and junior secondary schools, the installation of smart interactive boards in classrooms, the strengthening of education management information systems, and the deployment of digital platforms to improve the monitoring and evaluation of basic education programmes nationwide.
The meeting brought together officials of the Federal Ministry of Education, Commissioners for Education, Chairmen of State Universal Basic Education Boards, and development partners to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the adoption of digital learning resources across the country.
