FULL LIST: Trump Directs U.S. Withdrawal from 66 Global Organisations

President of the United States, Donald Trump, has ordered the country’s withdrawal from 66 global organisations, a move that has sent shockwaves through the international community.
U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, disclosed the decision in a statement on Wednesday, explaining that it followed an administration-wide review conducted under Executive Order 14199, which examined international organisations receiving U.S. participation or funding.
According to Rubio, the Trump administration concluded that many of the organisations were redundant, poorly managed, unnecessary, or operating in ways that undermine U.S. national interests. Others, he said, had become vehicles for ideological agendas that erode national sovereignty while consuming American resources with little tangible benefit.
“It is no longer acceptable to continue sending the blood, sweat and treasure of the American people to these institutions, with little or nothing to show for it,” Rubio stated.
The administration argued that billions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer funds have for years been channelled into international bodies that deliver minimal results while promoting policies inconsistent with the Trump administration’s priorities. Rubio said such practices would no longer continue.
President Trump has therefore directed all executive departments and agencies to take immediate steps to finalise the U.S. withdrawal from the affected organisations as quickly as possible.
Of the 66 organisations listed, 31 are affiliated with the United Nations (UN), while 35 are non-UN bodies.
Among the notable organisations are the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which the White House said operate contrary to America’s national interests.
AFP and Channels Television recall that upon returning to office last January, Trump initiated the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Paris Climate Agreement. Weeks later, he signed an executive order pulling the U.S. out of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and halting all future funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency for the Near East (UNRWA).
The UNFCCC coordinates global climate action through mechanisms such as annual Conference of Parties (COP) meetings and agreements like the Paris Accord, which Trump has repeatedly described as a “scam.”
UNFPA focuses on family planning, maternal healthcare, and efforts to eliminate gender-based violence and harmful practices such as child marriage. Historically, the United States has been one of UNFPA’s major donors, supporting programmes in more than 150 countries.
