Gov.Aliyu Gives Civil Servants Friday Off to Register as Voters

The Sokoto State Government has declared Friday, July 24, 2026, a work-free day to enable civil servants of voting age who have not yet registered to participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Governor Ahmed Aliyu urged all eligible civil servants who are yet to register to take advantage of the work-free day to complete their registration and secure their PVCs, stressing that doing so would enable them to exercise their civic responsibility during the forthcoming general elections.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that civil servants in the state are given every opportunity to participate in national assignments and exercise their civic rights.
He also appealed to members of the public who are not civil servants, including those who have recently attained the eligible age for voter registration, to make use of the two-week extension granted for the exercise to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards. The voter registration exercise is scheduled to end on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
