Gov. Sule Submits N517.5bn 2026 Budget Proposal to Assembly for Approval Speaker Pledges Strong Collaboration, Quick Passage

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has presented a 2026 budget proposal totaling N517,539,050,910.77 to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
According to Sule, the total expenditure for the 2026 fiscal year is divided into N212,789,330,249.07 for recurrent expenditure, representing 41.12%, while capital expenditure stands at N304,749,720,661.70, representing 58.88%.
The Governor noted that the ratio of recurrent to capital spending reflects his administration’s continued commitment to prioritizing capital investment.
He disclosed the sectoral allocations as follows:
Administrative Sector: N108.70 billion
Economic Sector: N221.84 billion
Law and Justice: N16.09 billion
Social Sector: N170.92 billion
A further breakdown showed:
Infrastructure: N157.80 billion (30.49%)
Education: N92.91 billion (7.95%)
Science, Technology & Digital Economy: N4.92 billion (0.95%)
Security and General Administration: N142.96 billion (27.62%)
Finance, Investment & Trade: N39.19 billion (7.57%)
Health: N37.19 billion (7.19%)
Agriculture & Water Resources: N31.85 billion (6.15%)
Environment & Community Development: N28.32 billion (5.42%)
Information & Tourism: N18.65 billion (3.60%)
Legislation: N16.59 billion (3.21%)
Law & Justice: N16.09 billion (3.11%)
Youth & Sports Development: N10.01 billion (1.93%)

Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening state institutions and improving service delivery. He highlighted the establishment of six strategic agencies aimed at modernization, economic expansion, public safety, and governance reforms. These agencies include:
Nasarawa State Fire & Rescue Service Agency
Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund (NASET Fund)
Institute of Leather & Science Technology, Doma
Nasarawa State Multi-Door Courthouse (NSMDC)
Sule commended Speaker Danladi Jatau and members of the Assembly for their steadfast support in passing appropriation bills.
Receiving the proposal, Speaker Dr. Danladi Jatau assured the Executive of effective collaboration and swift legislative action. He described the 2026 Appropriation Bill as the “Budget of Strategic Consolidation,” aligned with the state’s development priorities.
According to Jatau, the 2026 budget aims to:
Consolidate ongoing infrastructure projects to boost connectivity and economic competitiveness
Expand job creation through industrialization, SME development, and agricultural productivity
Improve access to basic healthcare and education
Strengthen urban renewal and environmental management
He emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to legislative excellence and pledged timely passage of the budget.
Jatau urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure full compliance with budgetary guidelines, stressing that efficiency and adherence were “non-negotiable.”
He further called on citizens to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect across political, ethnic, and religious lines, while supporting Governor Sule’s efforts to build a prosperous Nasarawa State.
