Governor Sule Committed to Development, Peace, Unity, and Culture in Nasarawa — Speaker

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, has described Governor Abdullahi Sule as a leader dedicated to fostering unity, peace, and development among the diverse people of the state.

Dr. Jatau made the remark while declaring closed the three-day second edition of the Nasarawa State Festival of Arts and Culture held on Friday at the City Hall, Shendam Road, Lafia.

The event was organized by the State Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism.

Commending Governor Sule for his exemplary leadership, which he said has brought peace and development across the state, the Speaker urged citizens to harness their diversity for the growth and progress of Nasarawa State.

“Governor Abdullahi Sule has done remarkably well in ensuring security. Today, we enjoy peace and stability despite our diversity. Development is evident everywhere, courtesy of his commitment to peace. Our people must complement the government’s efforts by embracing one another as brothers and sisters, irrespective of our differences,” he said.

Dr. Jatau also congratulated the winners of the festival’s competitions and encouraged others not to be discouraged but to prepare better for the next edition.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, expressed gratitude to the Governor for approving the second edition of the festival, which showcased the state’s rich cultural heritage through traditional food, archery, and wrestling contests, among others.

He disclosed that twelve local government areas participated in the event, with awards presented to outstanding performers.

“In the Traditional Food Contest, Kokona came first, Karu second, and Toto third. In Archery, Karu took first place, followed by Lafia and Obi. For Dembe, Keffi emerged first, Keana second, and Awe third, while in Traditional Wrestling, Keana claimed first position, with Lafia and Awe placing second and third, respectively,” the commissioner announced.

Dignitaries at the event included the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Barr. Yusuf Musa; Executive Vice Chairman, Nasarawa Broadcasting Service, Alh. Auwalu Salihu; and former Commissioner for Culture, Hajiya Lantana Ahmed, among others.
