Group Commends President Tinubu’s Anti-Corruption Drive
The Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative (AHACCI) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast commitment to tackling corruption and promoting good governance in Nigeria.
The organisation said the Tinubu administration is setting a new standard for transparency and accountability in the country.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Director General of AHACCI, Ambassador Ismaila Yusuf Atus, applauded the President for strengthening anti-corruption agencies through improved funding and operational independence.
According to him, these measures have empowered anti-graft institutions to discharge their duties without political interference.
Atus, a strong advocate for grassroots integrity and systemic reforms, highlighted Nigeria’s improved standing in the 2024 Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perception Index, attributing the progress to President Tinubu’s bold initiatives.
“President Tinubu’s strategic policies and decisive actions against corruption are clearly restoring faith in our institutions. The leap in TI’s ranking — from 145th to 140th — reflects the global community’s growing confidence in Nigeria’s governance under his leadership,” Atus said.
He stressed that the current administration is moving beyond rhetoric to institutionalise integrity and restore dignity to public service.
The AHACCI DG also commended Tinubu’s economic policies aimed at addressing the root causes of corruption, particularly among civil servants and youths.
“These initiatives promote dignity of labour, reduce desperation, and make it easier for Nigerians to meet their needs without resorting to corrupt practices,” he noted.
According to Atus, the President’s reforms, including the student loan scheme, credit guarantee system, and increased minimum wage, are not just economic measures but “weapons against corruption.” He added that efforts to facilitate home ownership for civil servants and expand credit access for entrepreneurs are reducing the pressure points that often fuel corrupt behaviour.
“This is forward-thinking leadership. The improvement in our global ranking is not just a statistic; it is proof that Nigeria is on the right path,” he said.
Atus further lauded the administration’s push to fast-track corruption trials and reform the justice sector, noting that timely and fair legal processes are critical to restoring public trust.
“President Tinubu is proving that economic reforms can go hand-in-hand with ethical governance. This balanced approach is what Nigeria needs, and the results are already showing,” he added.
He called on civil society groups, traditional rulers, the media, and young Nigerians to actively support the anti-corruption campaign, stressing that lasting progress requires collective effort.
“The President has laid a strong foundation. Now it is up to every patriotic Nigerian, from the grassroots to the highest offices, to play their part in building a just and prosperous nation,” Atus said.
He reiterated that AHACCI was established on the principle that sustainable development cannot thrive without good governance and ethical leadership, and remains committed to dismantling systemic barriers created by corruption, injustice, and socio-economic inequality.
“At AHACCI, we employ education, advocacy, and strategic partnerships to inspire a new culture of civic responsibility and national pride — one where fairness, justice, and opportunity are accessible to all,” Atus concluded.
