Group Faults Byuan Over Bribery Allegations Against APC National Chairman
From Dooshima Terkura, Makurdi
The Northern Coalition for Good Governance has criticized the Executive Director of Finance at the Federal Housing Authority, Mr. Matthias Byuan, accusing him of orchestrating media attacks against the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
According to the coalition, the alleged smear campaign against the APC national chairman amounts to a direct affront to President Bola Tinubu, who leads the party nationally.
In a statement released to journalists and signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Muazu Othman, the group claimed that the aim of the ongoing social media attacks is to pressure the national chairman into reinstating the dissolved Benue State executive committee led by Austin Agada.
The statement explained, “Even though the tenure of the Agada-led State Executive Committee has elapsed, some Abuja-based politicians are still lobbying for its reinstatement ahead of the NEC meeting scheduled for December 15 and 16, 2025.
“In fact, they have resorted to blackmailing Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, spreading false claims that the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, bought him a N2 billion mansion in the Maitama area of Abuja.
“They are also peddling lies on social media that the governor allegedly bribed him with a N3 billion contract and sponsored the construction of a church project in the national chairman’s hometown, all in an attempt to compel him to reinstall an illegitimate party chairman in Benue State.”
The coalition strongly denounced the allegations and challenged those making the claims to disclose the location of the supposed mansion allegedly purchased by Governor Alia for the APC national chairman.
They also urged the accusers to provide comprehensive details of the alleged N3 billion contract reportedly awarded to Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
“If indeed they are confident in their allegations, they should be able to state the address of the Maitama mansion and specify the details of the so-called N3 billion contract,” the group insisted.
