The Member Representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori, has called on warring communities in Adamawa State to “sheath the sword” following a series of violent clashes.

Speaking on recent communal unrest, Kwamoti highlighted that the governor had imposed a curfew after attacks on , LAMURDE, RIGANGE AND BAJEN which left one mobile policeman dead and a soldier and a civil defense officer critically wounded.

He noted that these disputes, which began last year, stem from longstanding local tensions over traditional “class status” among district heads, rather than land or resources.
“People who have coexisted for years have now found themselves in conflict over recognition and independence of their chiefdoms,” Kwamoti said, urging the communities to resolve issues through dialogue rather than violence.

He emphasized that any changes in traditional structures require proper legal processes and cannot be achieved through aggression.

On the political front, Kwamoti confirmed that most elected officials and party structures in Adamawa have realigned with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He explained that the move was aimed at fostering unity and development in the state, adding that new party members are still “finding their room” within the party structure.
“The need for realignment is to ensure our state moves forward without unnecessary political fights.
