How ICPC Minna Zone is prosecuting six corruption cases in court — Resident Commissioner
By David Odama
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Minna Zonal Office, has disclosed that six corruption-related cases are currently undergoing prosecution in court.
Resident Commissioner of the zone, Kennedy Ebotemen, made this known while receiving the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, Comrade Abu Nmodu, during a courtesy visit.
Ebotemen urged citizens to submit petitions to the commission, assuring them that their identities would be safeguarded under ICPC’s secrecy laws.
He, however, expressed concern over the low number of petitions from the public, stressing that more credible information would further strengthen the anti-corruption fight.
“We have six cases of corruption in court, and this is due to the limited petitions we received. I want to encourage the public to submit more genuine information, which will be handled with confidentiality,” he stated.
The Resident Commissioner also underscored the importance of stronger collaboration between the ICPC and the media, pointing out the critical role journalists play in exposing corruption and promoting accountability.
In his remarks, NUJ Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu, called for closer cooperation between the ICPC and journalists, particularly in the coverage of the commission’s activities.
He further appealed to the ICPC to extend to the Minna zone the journalist training programmes being implemented at its headquarters, saying such initiatives would deepen the partnership between both institutions.
