“I Sold Everything in Lagos—My Bed, Gas Cooker, and Fridge. The Only Thing I Took Back Was My Books” — Shan George
Veteran Nollywood actress, Shan George, has revealed that despite selling off most of her valuable possessions during her mother’s illness, the one thing she could not part with was her beloved collection of books.
Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, George explained that when she was relocating from Lagos to Calabar, she sold her bed, gas cooker, fridge, and several other household items.
However, her bookshelf and books were too precious to let go.In her words:
“I sold everything in Lagos—my bed, my gas cooker, fridge. The only thing I brought back from Lagos was my books, because I have a bookshelf. I love books, and I buy my books. So, I brought back my books, my plasma TV in the sitting room, and my few clothes and personal effects. That’s all. I just put my mother in the car, those little things in one of the cars left, because I had sold others, and drove myself all the way from Lagos.”
The actress emphasized her deep attachment to reading, describing books as one of her greatest treasures.
