JUST IN: Renowned Ogun Monarch, Oba Mosaku, Passes On at 89

His Royal Majesty, Oba Timothy Oluwole Sunday Mosaku, the Olu of Arigbajo in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, has passed away.

The revered monarch died at the age of 89, his family confirmed in a statement released on Friday.

Announcing his burial arrangements, the Mosaku family disclosed that a wake-keeping service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Olu of Arigbajo Palace, his residence, by 5 pm. The interment service is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at St. John’s Anglican Church, Arigbajo, Ifo Local Government Area, by 11 am.

Born to Egunleti Mosaku, the late monarch rose through the traditional hierarchy of Arigbajo. In 2001, he became the Otun Baale of Arigbajo, was elevated to Baale in 2008, and in 2010, formally gazetted by the Ogun State Government as the Oba of Arigbajo. His coronation and installation were performed by the Alake of Egbaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.

Oba Mosaku received his early education at United District Central Primary School, Arigbajo, before proceeding to Secondary Modern School, Abeokuta. He later attended the Government Trade Centre, Ijebu-Ode, and the Institute of Management, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Journalism.

Before ascending the throne, he worked with Vono Foam Products for 12 years, where he rose to the position of union president.
