The National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, has launched National Vehicle Dealership Registration Framework.

Speaking during the Launch in Abuja, the Director General of NADDC, Otunba Oluwemimo Osanipin said the move was
a digital gateway designed to modernize, sanitize, and revolutionize how automotive business is conducted in Nigeria.

He stated that the framework was not built in a vacuum but the product of extensive, grassroots engagement with the real players who drive the industry.

” We remember the robust deliberations in Uyo, the strategic insights gathered in Lagos, and the technical refinements made following our sessions in Kano and Bauchi
and in those meetings, you, the members of AMDON, asked for transparency. You asked for a level playing field while you asked for a system that distinguishes the professional dealer from the informal operator” the NADDC Boss explained

In his words ” The National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) 2023-2033 is our roadmap to making Nigeria an automotive hub. However, a roadmap is useless without a vehicle. This Registration Framework is that vehicle and by registering your dealership, you are doing more than fulfilling a requirement; you are positioning your business to benefit from:
i. Credit Support: Seamless integration with our financing partners, including the Bank of Industry, to provide low-interest intervention funds for fleet expansion.
ii. Market Protection: Ensuring that only certified dealers can participate in government procurement and high-level corporate contracts under our “Nigeria First” policy”.

” As we look inward to strengthen our local market, we must also look outward. A structured, registered, and data-driven dealership network is Nigeria’s strongest currency as we engage with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and to compete and lead in the continental market, we must move away from fragmentation and toward a unified, professionalized automotive ecosystem. This framework ensures that a dealer in Abuja or Lagos meets the same high standards recognized across the continent”

He commended the technical partners, Omnipact Ventures, for developing a platform that is user-friendly and robust noting that the transition to a digital registry means less paperwork, faster approvals, and a reliable database that protects both the dealer and the consumer.

“It provides the “digital birth certificate” for every vehicle sold through a certified outlet, curbing grey-market activities and enhancing national security.and our goal is simple: to elevate our indigenous automotive sector to be the pride of our roads, ensuring that the dealers who drive this industry are recognized as indispensable pillars of our national prosperity”.

“To the leadership and members of AMDON: the Council is your partner, not just your regulator and let us use this framework to build an industry that is transparent, profitable, and globally competitive.
