Nasarawa APC Condemns Attacks on Women Affairs Minister, Reaffirms Confidence in Her Leadership
By David Odama
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has strongly condemned what it described as malicious attacks targeted at the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, as well as other prominent citizens of the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the State Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, and made available to journalists in Lafia by the State Publicity Secretary, Chief Douglas Otaru, the party decried the campaign of calumny allegedly orchestrated by one Abdulkarim Alanana.
According to the statement, “Our attention has been drawn to a widely circulated video by Abdulkarim Alanana Mai’yau, popularly known as Oscar Keana, an unregistered and inconsequential member of our party, calling for the removal of the Honourable Minister.
“His reckless utterances are not only false but also a clear demonstration of desperation, frustration, and a craving for cheap popularity. Only a person of questionable character will attempt to discredit good works rather than celebrate them.”
The APC recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his recent official visit to Nasarawa State, publicly passed a vote of confidence in Sulaiman-Ibrahim, describing her as a performer and a true daughter of the state.
“In the same vein, Governor Abdullahi Sule has consistently commended her initiatives and acknowledged her efforts in showcasing the ingenuity and excellence of Nasarawa people,” the party added.
The statement further stressed that the APC in Nasarawa will not allow faceless detractors or political jobbers to tarnish the minister’s image or distract her from her service to the nation. It urged the public to disregard such baseless attacks and maintain trust in her proven record of service and integrity.
It also issued a stern warning against cyberbullying and character assassination of public officials, noting that Nigeria’s cybersecurity and criminal laws will be applied against offenders.
Reaffirming its support, the APC declared: “We proudly stand with Honourable Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, commend her tireless efforts, and call on all Nigerians to celebrate her achievements, support her programmes, and rally behind her vision for women, families, and vulnerable groups nationwide.”
The party highlighted her role in facilitating President Tinubu’s flag-off of the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention Programmes during his visit to the state. Women of Nasarawa origin directly benefited from the Women’s Advancement through Value Empowerment (WAVE) Programme, with each receiving ₦1,000,000 to boost enterprise and livelihoods.
“These achievements are not hearsay; they are matters of public record, with extensive video documentation and newspaper reports available for verification,” the APC emphasized.
It added that Sulaiman-Ibrahim has distinguished herself not only nationally but also on international platforms, where she has advanced Nigeria’s voice, mobilized women in the Diaspora, and projected Nasarawa as one of the seven leading CEDAW-compliant states in the country.
The statement concluded: “Her outstanding leadership, competence, and commitment to improving the welfare of women, children, families, and vulnerable groups remain widely recognized. She has proven herself as a worthy representative of Nasarawa State in the Federal Executive Council.”
