Nasarawa Targets Jobs, Agro-Exports With 2,000-Hectare Moringa Project

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State is set to inaugurate a 2,000-hectare Moringa plantation, integrated agricultural and animal feedlots colony in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.

The opening of the colony follows a visit to the plantation site by Governor Abdullahi Sule, accompanied by the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation, Yakubu Kwanta, as well as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Moringa Productions Marketers and Farmers Welfare and Empowerment Association of Nigeria, Dr. Ashimashiga Michael Akoloaga.

The inauguration of the 2,000-hectare Moringa plantation, integrated agricultural and animal feedlots colony in Akwanga is expected to provide an opportunity for the government and stakeholders to appreciate the scale, economic potential and employment opportunities of the project, as well as consider areas of government support and collaboration toward large-scale job creation and economic empowerment for citizens of Nasarawa State.

Eden Moringa Group, in collaboration with the Moringa Productions Marketers and Farmers Welfare and Empowerment Association of Nigeria, is advancing the development of its 2,000-hectare Moringa Plantation, Integrated Animal Colony and Agro-Industrial Development Project at Tede Community, Rinze, Akwanga West Development Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria.

He stated that the landmark agricultural project is designed to promote large-scale Moringa cultivation, agro-processing, livestock integration, employment creation, farmer empowerment and the production of value-added agricultural products for both domestic and international markets.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain by connecting farmers and producers with structured processing and off-take opportunities.

Preparations are progressing toward the official opening and commissioning of the project, scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, with government officials, traditional leaders, development partners, investors, farmers and other stakeholders expected to participate, Dr. Ashimashiga Michael Akoloaga declared.

According to him, organic agricultural cultivation, Moringa production, animal husbandry, E-Moringa organic fertilizer production, processing and other agricultural value chains, when fully operational, will improve the revenue base of the state and generate employment for the teeming unemployed citizens of the state.

According to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Eden Moringa Group, Dr. Ashimashiga Michael Akoloaga, the Association is equally developing an ambitious international export programme for 100 per cent organic Moringa products, vegetables and other agricultural produce.

He said the programme would explore airfreight through Nasarawa State’s cargo-airport infrastructure to international markets, including Dubai and the United States of America, alongside ongoing engagements with the USA–Africa Trade Desk and other international collaborators.

He said the forthcoming opening therefore represents an important step toward transforming the allocated 2,000 hectares of farmland and associated facilities into a major hub for organic agricultural production, animal husbandry, value addition, international export and sustainable employment creation for Nasarawa State and Nigeria.

According to the Chairman/CEO of Eden Moringa Group and Chairman of the Association, Dr. Ashimashiga Michael Akoloaga (FIISSN), the project represents a major step toward transforming Moringa cultivation from small-scale production into an integrated commercial agricultural and agro-industrial value chain.
