FG, World Bank Urged to Sustain TVET Investment Potential

The Federal Government and the World Bank have been urged to sustain investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip Nigerian youths with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

The Chief Executive Officer of the training institute, Khadija Fashina, made the call in Abuja at the Student Cook-Off Competition organised under the IDEAS-TVET skills development programme.

Commending the Federal Government and the World Bank for sponsoring the training, Mrs Fashina said the initiative is providing young Nigerians with practical competencies that can translate into sustainable livelihoods and economic productivity.

Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of the Abuja Chapter of the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria, Mr Felix Osaghae, said the programme would contribute to economic growth by encouraging young people to become entrepreneurs and employers of labour.

Mr Osaghae called for proper mentorship and adherence to professional standards.
The cook-off showcased the practical culinary skills acquired by beneficiaries under the IDEAS-TVET programme.
