The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has urged Christian women to remain steadfast in praying for peace in Nigeria, Africa, the Middle East, and around the world.
This was contained in a statement issued by Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations at the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC).

Bishop Adegbite made the call while receiving executive members of the Women Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria, FCT Chapter, during a courtesy visit to the NCPC corporate headquarters in Abuja on March 11, 2025.
He stressed the importance of sustained prayers, saying, “We must continue to pray for peace in Nigeria, peace in Africa, peace in the Middle East, and peace in the world.”
The NCPC Executive Secretary also highlighted the successful completion of the 2025 pilgrimage exercise, explaining that more than 500 pilgrims were safely returned to Nigeria. He noted that due to the fragile security situation in Israel and the Middle East, the Commission has suspended pilgrimage activities until the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran subsides.
Bishop Adegbite commended President Bola Tinubu for providing an enabling environment for pilgrimage to flourish in Nigeria and for demonstrating quality leadership. According to him, “Most of the things he has done, no President has done since 1960.”
He further praised the President’s efforts in tackling insecurity, expressing confidence that Nigeria would no longer remain a safe haven for its enemies.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Women Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria (WOWICCN), FCT Chapter, Lady Adesola Omoware, applauded Bishop Adegbite for his efforts in promoting Christian pilgrimage and strengthening the spiritual lives of believers.
She also informed the NCPC boss about the group’s upcoming empowerment programme designed to support members through financial assistance, skills acquisition, and capacity development.
It is noteworthy that the visit of the Women Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria, FCT Chapter, coincided with the celebration of the International Week for Mothers.
