NCPC Moves to Strengthen Information Management Through Capacity Building Workshop

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has stressed the importance of collaboration in ensuring that pilgrimage exercises are exemplary and leave a lasting impact on participants.
He made this known on Tuesday, 15th April 2026, during the Commission’s maiden one-day training workshop for Information Officers and Administrative Officers of the State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards.

The event was held at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking at the workshop, the NCPC boss revealed that the Commission, under his leadership, has adopted a new corporate slogan: Service and Satisfaction. According to him, delivering quality services to pilgrims and stakeholders remains non-negotiable, with a strong emphasis on ensuring satisfaction at all levels.
He noted that the workshop theme, Strengthening Information Management for Effective Pilgrimage Administration, aligns with the Commission’s commitment to achieving excellence in service delivery.
Bishop Adegbite explained that the training was aimed at equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effectively in their roles. He encouraged them to be intentional, focused, and committed to prioritizing the welfare of pilgrims. He further challenged them to make meaningful contributions and leave a positive mark in pilgrimage administration.
He also disclosed that the workshop has now been institutionalized as an annual programme.
In his earlier welcome address, the Director of Media and Public Relations, Mr. Celestine Toruka, stated that the workshop reflects the Commission’s dedication to excellence and pilgrim satisfaction.
He emphasized that the NCPC, as the only national regulatory body for Christian pilgrimage, is utilizing the training to strengthen its regulatory framework through capacity building. He also highlighted the close working relationship between Information Officers and Administrative Officers, noting their shared responsibilities in managing both internal and external communications.
Mr. Toruka expressed appreciation to the Executive Secretary for approving the maiden workshop and for establishing it as a recurring annual event.
The workshop featured presentations on key topics such as: The Imperatives of Effective Pilgrimage Operations; The Role of Information Administrators in Pilgrimage Administration; Crisis Management in Pilgrimage; and Communication Technologies for Effective Pilgrimage Support.
