The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has launched its Strategic Plan for 2026–2030, aimed at strengthening performance, enhancing service delivery, and improving climate resilience across the country.

Speaking at the unveiling in Abuja, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Charles Anosike, described the plan as a significant milestone in the agency’s efforts to align its operations with national development priorities.

According to him, the roadmap will serve as a performance management tool to reposition NiMet’s weather and climate services in line with Nigeria’s broader vision.

He noted that the agency, with over 140 years of experience in safeguarding lives and property, is set to become the first public institution in Nigeria’s aviation sector to fully institutionalise a Balanced Scorecard system.

Anosike explained that the strategic plan is built on five key pillars: employee growth and development, strategic partnerships, technology and innovation, quality service delivery, and revenue diversification.

The initiative is also aligned with the Federal Government’s results-driven governance framework coordinated by the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), established under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enhance performance monitoring across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies through performance bonds and results-based budgeting.

As part of the rollout, NiMet also introduced its refreshed core values under the acronym I-PACE — Integrity, Professionalism, Accountability, Commitment, and Excellence — which will guide the implementation of the new strategic plan.
